SMARTSHARE PLATFORM SUPPORT

SmartShare servers support most popular desktop and workstation platforms including:

Macintosh: SmartShare offers full compatibility between Mac (OS 7.6 through 9.x) and PC, allowing users to easily mount shared folders, print to PostScript printers and connect to shared Internet lines. SmartShare uses the fast, industry standard TCP/IP protocol in place of AppleTalk and is designed specifically for the Macintosh.

Windows: SmartShare servers communicate to Windows PCs (all versions including NT, 9x, ME and 2000) using Microsoft standard protocols, which means that for desktop users, no new software or hardware is needed and no additional user training is required. In environments with both Windows and Macintosh computers, Macintosh files and printers are available as other PCs on your Microsoft network.
